Pediatric Pelvic Health
Why might a child need pelvic floor therapy? Children, for various reasons, may have pelvic floor muscles that are weak, too tight, or poorly coordinated, resulting in pelvic floor dysfunction. Bowel and bladder control develop on a contiuum. There are a number of issues that can prolong or impair the ability to develop full continence. Urinary or fecal incontinence in children can result in stress, and decreased quality of life, and may take a psychological and emotional toll on the child and family.
Pelvic floor therapy can help with the following conditions/concerns:
- Bedwetting/Nocturnal Enuresis
- Chronic Constipation
- Encopresis
- Enuresis: Urinary Incontinence
- Fecal Urgency/Frequency
- Painful Urination or Defecation
- Urinary Frequency/Urgency
- Urinary Retention
- Vesicoureteral Reflux
